Bad Design GE Dishwasher sump inlet
Proprietary GE part, made from thin, flexible plastic instead of thicker, hard material. Breaks down over time by absorbing detergents and chemicals, softening into a gooey material, which then retains soap scum build-up, requiring replacement. This is called planned obsolescence, -
incorporated into products since 1966 - it ensures consumers have to replace parts or entire products if parts are not available, when these parts break down, then product ends up in landfills. Other manufacturers incorporate this inlet area as part of the pan, not requiring another part to service or replace. As an experienced, prominent Consumer Advocate with design; electronics; engineering, and patent experience - who evaluates global products since 1978 - this design takes advantage of the consumer. Poorly engineered component of inferior materials. Since it is proprietary, no part substitute (unless you want to 3D print your own, but that material is also not durable).Lire l'avis complet...
