    I'm going to give this a neutral review because the bluray case came a bit beaten up. And at first the disc was skipping and appeared unwatchable until I realized the disc had a smudge on it that had to be wiped off. Once that was fixed though the disc ran fine and I enjoyed the movie. Disc was shipped promptly.

    Hairspray Remake Makes The Connection With My Daughter

    Just when I thought I'd never see a really cute movie again, along came the second remake of the 1988 film Hairspray, originally directed by none other than John Waters. You've got to remember the old one to really appreciate this one even though the first one had some really big stars such as Sonny Bono & Deborah Harry as the parents. We have to go back in time to the year 1962 again and pick up where the teenager Tracy Turnblad and her friend Penny Pingleton are watching the Corny Collins show and dreaming of how they could really fit into that scene. Tracy gets a chance to dance on the show and the rest is history. Her dancing skills attract Corny Collins, but also the attention of teenage heart throb, Link Larkin.     HAIRSPRAY

    This is one of those rare feel good movies that has you dancing in your seat- i felt so good throughout the entire movie and didnt want it to end. you will be humming the songs the minute the last credit roles on screen. It is rare that people applaud at the end of movies anymore, but audiences did at all three times i saw it in the theatre. Incredible performances from everyone in the cast and directed brilliantly. The broadway musical was amazing, and the nothing can compare to seeing this feel good extravaganza live, for a movie it comes pretty darn close. Your feet will be tapping along to all of the fun music and John Travolta and Nicky ( newcomer) are first rate as well as Michelle Pfeiffer QUEEN LATIFA and James marsden also shine and are perfect in thier roles and hey, ZAC EFRON ...

    Excellent musical

    Fun, fun, fun. Great use of engaging music and dance to support a social justice theme. Every musical tune was awesome!

    Fun But Not Divine

    This is a very good and fun remake. The songs are pitch perfect. Good Morning Baltimore anyone?? I had such a fondness for the original cast though. I have a tough time not trying to think about them. Mink Stole, Ricki Lake, Sunny Bono, and of course DIVINE!! I think this is a fun film. It has been made a little more tame than anything Waters would have ever done, but that's alright. It's solid and good fun, but I still recommend the original!
